By Stm. I'm experiencing issues with Alchemy. Whenever I switch it over to advanced mode the gui of Alchemy and Logic itself slows down and becomes sluggish. The other modes work fine. Removing alchemy restores Logic to normal behavior. My new Logic Pro Book is out! Never had a problem with Omnisphere though. Playing more with Alchemy now; the GUI lag only happens in advanced mode.
Audio is not affected. Parameters react roughly. I have been on phone support the last two days. First local Apple support here in Norway who had never even heard of Logic , then directly with Logic support in Ireland I think?
Trashing prefs, signing in with an other account, switching audio devices etc. Nothing has worked. The only thing we found that remedies the issue is to start Logic in low resolution mode. But that defeats the purpose of getting a high screen resolution Mac My case has been "elevated", not exactly sure what that means but hopefully it will get sorted out soon. Maybe through an update to Logic? Seems a lot of people are experiencing GUI lag issues with Logic and high resolution monitors.
I have just purchased and downloaded Logic Pro X. Everything works fine except for Alchemy. I am experiencing the exact same issues as you are. Alchemy is sluggish in Advanced Mode. Turning the knobs is possible but they turn with a delay and it is impossible to make any fine adjustments. The graph and bars move sluggishly as well. The audio however, seems to play fine. I have not raised a ticket with Apple yet but hope to you hear a follow up from you soon. I have my 5k retina iMac set up to boot into either El Capitan or Sierra.
Alchemy in LPX Running under Sierra, in either LPX There are also problems with resizing the main windows in both LPX Again under El Capitan, no such problem. Logic Pro X Probably no help, but just tried on a non-retina Mac, OSX I just wanted to chime in here, cause I have a new iMac 5K with Sierra. In Advanced mode, the Modulation and Perform sections work just fine, no lag. But in the Sources section, when I click a knob I also get the lag.
It looks like the graphic in the Modulation section has to refresh before the knob becomes responsive. Hi everyone. I just got off the phone with Apple Support today. We did a screen sharing session. Apparently, my CPU seemed to be overloading a little. The support technician would call me back on Monday to follow up on the problem. He has the same MacBook Pro with the same specs so we'll be able to compare.
Other than that, he did inform me that I may be using Alchemy wrong. I only seem to be getting the issue when I have a track playing in the background and have Alchemy running at the same time. When I start tweaking the knobs, even the numbers on the LCD would freeze and the track head would stop dead in its tracks pun intended.
According to him, I should stop playback, tweak the knobs and whatnot, then play to hear the sounds and changes that I've made. I'm pretty new to Logic Pro X. Is this how you guys use Alchemy too? Should I not be making live changes in the Alchemy interface as the track is playing back.
That's definitely not how i would use it, and my oldest Mac running LPX In fact, i can do so with a Windows 10 virtual machine running in the background - as i just tried for clarification!
Have you tried it with an external controller? It's not even up for debate as far as i'm concerned! In fact, when i'm using my Mackie, or other MIDI controller i'm changing multiple parameters on the fly - not just a single one.
I would try drawing some automation with it on it's track, set the track to 'read' and then play it back, just a simple cutoff filter sweep from low to high for example would be enough. And see if the filter sweep is audibly smooth, then try playing back with the plugin open and see if it's audibly smooth, and how the interface updates when the knob is under automation control, and not via mouse etc.
So, this is what I did. I have another MacBook Pro. It's an early model 13". Processor 2. The computer has served me well over the past 6 years and continues to do so till this very day aside from slow loading times I installed Logic Pro X on this older MBP today and ran alchemy. To my surprise, the entire interface was buttery smooth. The interface in the Advanced mode works fine. Everything was just snappy. I could make live changes whilst monitoring my changes numerically.
Soooooo, obviously, what Apple support had told me was wrong. Here's what worries me now, on the phone with the Logic Pro Expert, he told me that the delays I was experiencing on my new MacBook was normal. Apparently, Alchemy is a very powerful synthesiser which I agree and operates with delays due to signal processes and such.
If the Logic Pro Expert thinks this is the standard for Alchemy's performance, then its going to be very difficult for me to persuade him otherwise. I mean, on my new MBP, when I was running Alchemy on just 1 test track with a 3 note chord, my fans were screaming on the top of their lungs - to which the Logic Expert said was normal.
I even placed the phone close to the keyboard. Please note that I am in no way complaining about the Logic Expert here but am merely sharing my experience with the Logic users on this wonderful forum. I'm just hoping its not a hardware issue because I would hate to send in my new MBP to be bisected and such.
I will continue to sort this issue out and fill you guys in. Hey guys. I just got off the phone with the Logic Expert. He tried to reproduce the issue on his MacBook Pro and experienced the same issues. I have submitted a feedback again and will wait for the update. Thank you all for your input in this matter. I hope this thread will be of help to other users experiencing the same issue with their new devices.
In conclusion, the only solution is to wait Thanks for sharing kelvin. I must say I find the knowledge of these so called "Logic experts" at Logic support questionable. One instance of Alchemy causes a MBP fans to run at full speed is normal?! With macOS What's most concerning, is that if Alchemy was still a third party plugin, you would've most likely been told that it's not their fault Apple and you should contact the third party - and just left hanging.. But still, the end result is the same, you're still left hanging on this.
It's crazy to think that a Logic 'Expert' has to reproduce the issue whilst on the phone guided by steps that you provide, and once confirmed they have a ready made answer that it's the touchbar?!
If it's a known issue then why an earth did they get you to walk through hoops reproducing it, particularly after being told YOU are the one at fault previously. I only have a macbook pro retina and I think that Alchemy itself not logic though is sluggish. It's me again. Finally, there's a solution. It wasn't addressed in the recent Logic Pro X However, Apple has a document on a workaround solution that was published on February A user by the name "eluxtria" had shared the following link with me after I posted a discussion on the Apple community forum.
If Alchemy controls feel unresponsive in Logic Pro X. Apparently, by changing the colour profile, there's an effect on the Alchemy interface.
When it emerged that UK-based Camel Prblem highly respected developer of professional audio ftee acquired by Apple problfm this yearmany wondered what the fate of its flagship Alchemy synthesizer would be. Early signs of Alchemy's influence appeared in the mainstream music production app GarageBandleading to fears that perhaps one of the most highly regarded software synths of all time was being chopped up for use across a wide range of apps across Apple.
Fortunately for the music making elite, not only is the full-fat version of the Alchemy synthesizer back, it's been given a significant overhaul compared the last 1.
This includes not only improved audio morphing features and synthesis engines, but also an improved UI. The new UI promises to make browsing sounds and patches, and creating new ones, easier than before, while still offering the depth of sound design that Alchemy was renowned for. While that may be disappointing news to aldhemy hoping for a standalone version to use with their DAW of choice, at least Logic is good value.
If you already have Logic Prohlem, version This differs slightly from a traditional analogue synthesizer, in that instead of generating alchdmy raw square wave or a saw wave and using filters and other tools to manipulate it, a sample-based synth uses frse recorded sound or instrument as the basis for manipulation. The new version of Alchemy comes bundled with around 14GB of problek samples, which are used in over presets, and Logic patches.
Each preset also features eight Transform Pad variations—basically a giant XY pad you logic pro x alchemy problem free sweep across alchemu change the sound in real-time—for further sounds. Aside from the usual array of envelope filters and modulation for manipulating sounds, what's particularly neat about Alchemy is that it lets you perform direct spectral editing and audio morphing, logic pro x alchemy problem free latter of which has been given a boost in the new version.
Spectral editing allows you look at a graphical representation of audio, a little like a waveform, but d far more ppro. What this allows you to do is essentially paint in audio information, with height determining pitch, and brightness of colour determining volume, leading to some very unique sounds. Alchemy takes this one stage further with elemental morphing, which allows you to merge up to four sounds together at the sound generation level.
For example, instead of hearing a transition between the overall amplitude of each sound during a crossfade, for examplewith morphing the transition between the sounds happens between different frequency bands.
This can also lead to some interesting new sounds as frequencies from one instrument clash with, or enhance one another, particularly when you add different modulation effects or even arpeggiators on top. Apple also says improvements have been made to Alchemy's other forms of resyththesis, including Formant, Additive, and Granular.
Additionally, the analogue-style filters have been redesigned and include a new dirty "Bee" filterthe convolution-based reverb now has access to over llgic impulse responses, and there's even a Waveshaper with built-in curve presets to emulate the sound of tubes, rectifiers, and other types of distortion. If you're not at all interested in Alchemy, then Logic MainStage gets a bump to version 3.
Both are said to have received multiple stability and connectivity improvements, too. Finally, for those who want to share their newly created Alchemy masterpiece with the world, Logic now features support for Apple Music Connect, allowing musicians to upload music directly from Logic to logic pro x alchemy problem free service.
