It shows expected results. It takes nothing for granted. The associated files let you do each lesson "stand alone". So while all the lessons take you through the construction of a single simplistic travel agency website, you aren't "stuck" if you don't finish a lesson or you messed up a prior lesson.

They even include "finished" files to show you what your work will look like when properly completed. When things went "wrong" and I didn't get the result shown I could always go back and find the error - and invariably it would be mine.

I find introductory tutorials that have subtle mistakes, or are half a version behind the product VERY frustrating, so I really appreciated the attention to detail in this book. I usually fill the margins of training books with errors and edits of unclear sentences. I found less than a dozen unclear places in this book - and several were simply where they gave only the MAC menu choice "choose" rather than also including the Windows "OK" command.

JS files in various directories to make a site work. Dreamweaver lets you flip between designer view and code view - and this book even lightly introduces you to that world. In a week, this book got me started using Dreamweaver well enough to build two web sites from scratch. I've found that to be the perfect companion for serious work. Full disclosure - I finished the entire CIB book 11 lessons in 8 days, spending about 3 to 4 hours per day. However I never needed to use outside resources to figure out what CIB was trying to teach.

It does NOT wander off into details about anything - this meant I could actually complete the book in a reasonable time and get a broad view. If I could change one thing, it would be to add about 5 chapters. These lessons would help complete and cement one's understanding of how you use the Dreamweaver toolset to build real websites.

This book will NOT make you a web guru, or even fully qualified to build a real-world site. If I ever write another users training manual, I will use this one as a model.

This book is easy to follow, step-by-step, yet very unsatisfactory since all you do is repeat what it says to do, and sometimes the projects are already built; you are just repeating what has already been done even from the supposed 'start' sites. I find myself zoning out in sheer boredom, it is very difficult to commit to this book. It is not a very good learning tool, and not so hot at reference either, the first thing I tried to look up in the index was not there.

It showed up in the text later on as I used the book, but it was never available for quick referral. Sorry, can't remember what it was I was looking for There are no building projects to make you use what you have just learned. For all of these reasons, I am now spending more hard earned cash on " Revealed" and suggest that you do, too.

Admittedly, I have some background in this, but I sat down and read the thing cover-to-cover, all at once and understood every concept without doing the actual lessons I'll go back and do them later with someone in my studio who is just getting started. The fact that it's very colorful is nice. Most of the rest of the CS4 Classroom in a Book series has many inspirational examples of creative uses of the Adobe products clever photos, illustrations, designs, motion graphics, etc.

This book's examples are not all that sexy. But, if they were a little jazzier I would have rated it as 5 stars. I guess if you knew absolutely nothing about web design and development this Dreamweaver book might not be for you, but Dreamweaver is popular with professionals so maybe it is expected that it's readers might not be among the entry-level users.

This clearly written logically organized book explains in no nonsense terms some of the key concepts in using Adobe Dreamweaver. Lessons from the source is the best way to learn about web design software. In eleven 11 important lessons, the Adobe Classroom in a Book training teams takes the reader through Dreamweaver's essential design interface.

The book includes a "Quickstart" chapter for those who want to jump right in and start designing web pages. Eleven chapters later, the book discusses publishing on the web. So weather you're looking for a Quick Start or a primer on everything from Cascading Style Sheets Chapter 2 or Lessons about working with text and graphics, this book could be the introduction you're looking for. By the time you finish reading this book, you'll have an understanding of the interface and web page design concepts of using Adobe Dreamweaver.

I am very glad I bought this book. I have been enrolled in a graphic web design class since March of it ends in July of for the purposes of building my Professional Development company. I desperately needed extra practice, because I did not desire to slow down the pace of the class.

With this book, I have been practicing lessons at my own pace. Anything I do not fully understand, I can continue doing until I completely understand the process. Each lesson can act as a stand-alone tutorial, or be done in its entirety.
